This website
This site is built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That is a commitment about how it is built, not a badge we bought.
What that means in practice:
- Colour contrast is measured, not guessed. Every text and background pair used here has been checked against the 4.5:1 ratio the standard requires for body text, and the values are recorded in the stylesheet so a future change cannot quietly break them.
- Everything works from the keyboard. There is a skip link, focus is always visible, and no control is reachable only with a mouse. The menu and the question-and-answer sections are ordinary HTML elements, not scripted widgets.
- The site works with JavaScript disabled. Booking, the menu and every form are plain HTML. Nothing here depends on script to function.
- Every page has one
<h1>and a heading structure you can navigate by. - Images have alt text, and decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
- Targets are at least 48px, so they can be hit without precision.
- Motion respects your system setting. If you have asked your device to reduce motion, transitions here stop.
- There is no CAPTCHA. Image and audio puzzles are themselves a barrier. Spam is handled by methods a visitor never has to solve.
We have deliberately not installed an accessibility overlay widget. Overlays tend to interfere with the assistive technology people already use and configure, and they do not fix the underlying markup. We would rather build the page correctly.
Booking
The booking engine is SynXis, operated by Sabre, and it is a third-party system we do not control. If you meet a barrier there, please call us on (415) 673-2332 and we will take the booking directly. We will not ask you to fight with a form.
The hotel
The Tilden occupies a building from 1928, which shapes what is possible.
- Accessible guest rooms. We have Deluxe King Accessible rooms with an accessible bathroom and a step-free layout.
- Service animals are welcome throughout and are exempt from any pet fee, in accordance with ADA guidelines.
- Valet parking means you can be dropped at the door rather than parking yourself.
Because the building is historic, some routes and older fixtures are not what a new building would have. Please call before you book if you have specific requirements — step-free routes, bathroom layout, bed height, roll-in shower availability, or anything else. We would rather answer honestly in advance than have you arrive to a room that does not work for you.
Tell us where we have got it wrong
If something on this site or in the hotel does not work for you, we want to know — including things this page claims are fine.
Email reservations@tildenhotel.com Call (415) 673-2332
Please tell us the page or the part of the hotel, what happened, and what you were using. We aim to respond within two business days, and we will tell you what we are going to do rather than only acknowledging the message.
